Magnolia - The Sequel
Nothing screams "City Festival" like dead pigeons falling from the sky.
Regarding Magnolia, now that I think of it, and it has been a long time since I've seen the movie, but Tom Cruise's part vs. his actual exsistence is very close to being a case of life imitating art.

Magnolia made NO sense to me. Then again, neither does Tom Cruise.

I agree with you regarding Magnolia.
The movie is supposed to be about impossible coinicidences, so we end up following the stories of several (I can't remember how many now) unrelated individuals for 3 hours fully expecting their lives to somehow intersect in a completely unbelievable way. So what happens after three long hours? It rains frogs on all of them!!
I am sorry, but I was fully expecting something much more sublime than that.
